The Sixth Subcircuit
In their attempt to remove or minimize politics from the judicial selection process, legislation was passed by the Illinois General Assembly in 1989 creating 15 subcircuits in Cook County. The goal was to allow the local voters an opportunity to elect judges from their own neighborhoods and constituency. The subcircuits have now been in place since the 1990 election.
