ILLINOIS PRIMARY ELECTION DATE MOVED

In 2008, we will actually have an earlier primary election in Illinois. On June 20th, 2007, a bill moving the 2008 Illinois primary election up by nearly a month was signed into law by Governor Rod Blagojevich. The legislation is House Bill 426.

In doing so, Illinois joins a number of other states changing their primary election dates to February 5th, including New York, California, Georgia, Missouri and New Jersey.

The new primary election date is February 5th, 2008. Remember to register to vote early.
